Before coming up with a design plan I start with understanding the current state of the system, it's architecture and functional/non-functional business requirements.

Knowing who the users are, what they want and when they want it. Creating persona documents bearing in mind both internal and external users.

Finding gaps and opportunities to improve the system for all users.

Creating user centred wireframes, user flows and user journey maps to address users needs as well as simplifying the information architecture, user interaction and site navigation.

Prototyping and coming up with a design plan that is fit for purpose.

Testing designs with users, planning and conducting usability tests and iterating between research and design for optimal results.

Work in a team of designers and developers and lead the implementation of the design plan.

Test with users to draw conclusions that can help improve their experience using the system and apply changes to the design.
